Salvador was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico and grew up in East Harlem, New York "El Barrio”. In 1960, Salvador was part of an elite group of basketball players chosen as the Top Five All City and was chosen by his teammates as the MVP.
Salvador served in the army during the Vietnam War and served during 1964 to 1966 and was part of the First Cavalry in Vietnam. The U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division was assigned a role that was completely new in military history, as the first unit dedicated to helicopter airmobile missions. He was a member of the VFW Post 2681 and member of the DAV Chapter 6. Salvador was a proud American and knew he lived in the greatest country in the world.
Salvador had a great love for family. He made sure to attend all his grandchildren’s activities while also making sure to give the referees and umpires much needed help. Salvador was an avid baseball fan, supporting both the Atlanta Braves and especially his New York Yankees. He also was fond of basketball; however, baseball's Mickey Mantle # 7 was regarded by Salvador as one of the greatest.
A visitation will occur Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road Ne, Marietta, GA 30068.
A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 11:00 AM Mt. Paran Church North, 1700 Allgood Road, Marietta, GA 30062.
A private burial for Salvador will be held Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. Due to Cov 19 restrictions, the Georgia National Cemetery is limiting the number of attendees for the burial.
